Governor: Kaluga's PSMA Rus to resume operations on December 18

KALUGA, Dec 14 (PRIME) -- Kaluga's car plant PSMA Rus, a joint venture between Peugeot Citroen and Mitsubishi Motors, will resume operations on December 18, Governor Vladislav Shapsha said on Thursday.

"We have met with the executives of company PSMA. They have worked their way up in re-equipment, retuning of the company, and the plant will start working on December 18, next Monday," Shapsha said.

He also said that about 30 companies in Kaluga produce car components with half of them continuing production amid sanctions and raised output several times.

CEO of former Volvo Trucks plant in Kaluga Andrei Aleksandrov said that the facility would assemble a new truck model with a foreign partner, the agreement would be signed soon. The plant’s production capacity is 10,000 trucks per year, he said.

The plant started producing the Next truck model on Thursday.
